Requesting Tight-tolerance CNC Parts
Communicate critical dimensions, datums, fits and inspection requirements for a tight-tolerance machining quotation.
Identify the functional requirement
Tell the reviewer which dimensions affect fit or function. Avoid assigning the same tight tolerance to every surface by default. Clarify units and the drawing standard you intend to use.
Connect dimensions to inspection
Define datums and mating references where appropriate, and identify dimensions that need an inspection record. Discuss the measurement method and accessibility of features before production.
Account for material and finishing
Material condition, thin sections and finishing can influence the final part. Specify whether dimensions apply before or after coating and identify faces that must be masked or left unfinished.
Confirm feasibility in the quotation
There is no universal tolerance commitment on this page. Submit your drawing and quantity so the manufacturing route, acceptance criteria and inspection scope can be reviewed for the actual part.
